What is Your
Organizing
Style?
Personal Touch
Are You
 |
A coupon or article clipper? |
 |
Relationship-oriented vs. process oriented? |
 |
Concerned that spending time getting organized will take time away
from family? |
 |
A person who best absorbs verbal information by how people look
and act when speaking, rather than focusing on the words alone? |
 |
Best connected to your environment by having multiple reminders of
your friends and family in every possible area? |
Your Challenges May Be
 |
Time management: you are more subjective than objective...if it
“feels” like you’ve spent 1 hour organizing you’ll stop even if it’s
only been 15 minutes. |
 |
Not setting limits or sticking to them. You tend to think that
having a few more things would be just fine because you can “always
use it” or “someone will need it” |
 |
Becoming bored with details and tendency to procrastinate. You may
do much better getting organized if doing it with a friend – so long
as the friend can keep you on track. |
 |
Sentimentality, getting “lost in the moment”. Reminiscing is
wonderful, but not so helpful when it comes time to put away photos,
papers, or souvenirs. Allow your brain a small amount of time to
wander, and then get back on track. |
You May Prefer to Organize With
 |
A Calendar/Schedule that is oversized, with fun colors or
inspirational images. You may even like to create your own calendar,
using photos of family members or happy vacation memories. |
 |
Storage: Baskets work for you, and also boxes (can have lids), but
you prefer aesthetics over function. You need colored boxes, or
boxes with pictures or lists of the contents pasted outside.
Accordion storage also works very well, because you can “dump” like
items into one sleeve and not have to organize further than that. |
 |
Purging: you need to set boundaries on how long to keep
memorabilia. Dating your containers is one way to help you discard
items when the “throw away” or “give away” date is reached.
